Sponsored GZ Entry Launched via Community Partnerships
Sunday 10th August 2025
The PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust is proud to announce a new initiative designed to grow the sport of adventure racing and increase access to the world-renowned One NZ GODZONE event. Through strategic partnerships with local community-based adventure races, selected teams who have not competed in expedition length adventure racing previously will now have the opportunity to earn a sponsored entry into the Pursuit category of One NZ GODZONE.
This new programme is aimed at creating a clear pathway for aspiring adventure racers, especially younger athletes keen to make the leap into multi-day expedition racing.
“One NZ GODZONE recognises the strength of New Zealand’s grassroots AR community,” says Rob Nichol of the PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust. “This initiative is about honouring that foundation and supporting the next generation of racers, by offering real opportunities to those who otherwise might not have been in a position to take the step up and take on GODZONE.”
By inviting selected community races to nominate teams for sponsorship, the initiative aims to:
* Strengthen connections across the national AR community
* Provide and encourage mentorship and guidance for emerging athletes
* Promote youth involvement and development pathways
* Broaden the sport’s reach across ages, skill levels, and regions
Selected teams will represent their local adventure racing communities at One NZ GODZONE Chapter 12, carrying with them the events name and collective spirit of support and growth that defines the sport.
“This is more than just a sponsorship,” says Rob Nichol. “It’s a collaborative effort by the PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust to grow adventure racing in New Zealand from the ground up—supporting people, building teams, and giving back to the community.”
“With a shared commitment to the promotion and sustainability of the sport, the PURE ADVENTURE Charitable Trust and its partner events are laying the foundation for a stronger, more inclusive future for adventure racing in Aotearoa. We have been working diligently behind the scenes on this and will be in a position to announce recipients over the coming weeks.”
